Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Roald Dahl

Blurb from 1997 Publication:

"Charlie Bucket can't believe his luck when he finds a golden ticket and wins a chance of a lifetime: A magical day witnessing the miraculous creation of the most delectable eatables ever made. Join Charlie in this irristable, world-famous story, perfectly complemented with illustrations by Quentin Blake"

There have been many publications of this childrens classic, but the original version had it's setbacks. Dahl encountered criticism about his portrayal of Oompa-Loompa's. The original story had the Oompa-Loompa's shown as African Pygmies. Dahl eventually changed this in both the English and American Versions. In the revised version the Oompa Loompas are described as having funny long golden-brown hair and rosy-white skin. Their origins were also changed from Africa to fictional Loompaland (Roald Dahl Foundation website).Link to Plot Synopsis (and other interesting information)
